Shine

Shine- Collective Soul
I was at work all day so didn't really get to dress up all cute (darn dress code!) but when I got home I changed into some of my favorite new things for the upcoming season... knee socks and a cape/shawl/tartan-piece-of-awesomeness! It was comfy and fall inspired, really all I'm looking for in an outfit recently!
Shawl- Value Village
Tank- Banana Republic
Shorts- American Eagle
Knee Socks- Dollarama
Necklace- Le Chateau
Belt- Vintage
Not much to say today, I'm hungry and really only have the food in the bowl in the last photo (what can one make with an eggplant and ears of corn? This is the mind boggling question I've been avoiding all night...hence the v. late supper!) I think grocery shopping is on the agenda tomorrow!

BUT! Because I feel like being in a giving mood, I will leave you guys with the out-take of the day! The office theme song came on and I was (apparently) really into it, shaking what my momma gave me.... (hahaha) I give you free reign to laugh out loud at the hard core photo! :)
If anyone has any wicked brilliant recipes for the food below, let me know! lol

I Am Over It

I Am Over It- The Dandy Warhols
Some days you just need to put on your girliest skirt and twirl around. I honestly don't remember what day this week I wore this (...Thursday??) but most of this week I've felt this way. It's been a long week.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, I've been learning a lot and dealing with some loose ends, but it doesn't leave a lot of time to relax and unwind. I think I might head up to my lake on Sunday to escape a bit and de-stress. There's nothing better to me than sitting on the docks of my lake with a good book and a coffee of some sort (mmm... chai latte...).
Skirt- Urban Outfitters
Chambray Shirt- American Eagle
Tank- Forever 21
Shoes- Anne Klein via Value Village
Heart Necklace- Le Chateau

Lets keep this short and sweet (I'm off to hunt down a chai latte now)!
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

No Talking

No Talking- The Zolas
With so many of my friends heading back to school right away, and this crisp fall breeze we've been having, I felt like wearing a "first day of school outfit". That was always my favorite thing about going back to school and even though it's been a few years since I've actually sat in a classroom I decided to get all dressed up and pretend I was!
I dug out some favorites from last fall; my old leopard print cardigan, grey knee highs and the desert boots I stumbled upon. The only problem is that now I have even more items that I need to add to my wishlist (see list at right). How awesome would this leopard print look with an emerald coloured shirt or skirt?? Augh. My poor bank account.
Cardigan- Rickis (circa 2003)
Shorts- Smart Set
Boots- Liz Claiborne via Winners
Cami- Forever 21
Purse and Necklace- Thrifted
Belt- Vintage
Socks- Dollarama (hah!)

I guess I am going back to school...kinda. I'm taking a photography class this fall (a legit one), and will be studying fashion 101 (self-directed. It involves reading 10 magazines per month. Very advanced and challenging). I love learning and actually do miss school. I never really understood why everyone complained about it so much. I think I'll always be a nerd in that respect!
Anyways, much love and hugs to all the other nerds out there too!

You Smile

You Smile (I flat out refuse to type it "U Smile")- Justin Bieber.... Wait for it, slowed down 800%!
Here's the link, it's haunting and gorgeous. Who knew! Go Biebs!

A comfy casual outfit for a day of running around. With the colder weather I brought my much loved boots out of hibernation early, a silver lining in my books! I found this shirt the other day and really loved the print and colours, it's already blended itself into my wardrobe quite nicely too!

Shirt- Winners
Skirt- Joe
Cardigan- Zara
Boots and Cuff- Aldo
Heart Necklace- Le Chateau
Turquoise Bracelet- Self Made
I also got around to baking Valerie's Nutella Cheesecake Brownies... Oh. Emm. Gee.
I had full intentions of cutting out a nice slice and taking a pretty picture of it, but the cake was eaten up so quickly that the pan photo will have to do! It's that good though, and seriously... who can really resist Nutella?? Never mind Nutella with cheesecake and brownies!! (HUGE thanks to Valerie for posting this beauty of a recipe!)

Relator

Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson- Relator
It's c-c-c-cold! I think fall arrived early this year. I have very mixed feelings about this; Like I said in my last post, fall is my absolute favorite season (yes, my birthday is in the fall. And yes, you are very welcome to shower me with gifts. I'm a size 8.5 in shoes, fyi.) but I also don't want to see it come so soon. Time has been whooshing past lately and I can't comprehend summer actually finishing. Didn't it just start?!

I turned on the heat yesterday because I had goose bumps all down my arms, despite wearing 4 layers and resembling the michelin man. I've also started to wear pants again. And I really don't like pants. You know I'm frozen to the bone if my legs are actually covered!
Blouse- Thrifted
Pants (they're really not leggings... I swear!)- Joe
Shoes- Franco Sarto
Key Necklace- A.Co Designs (thanks hun!)
Cuff- Aldo
Bracelet- Self Made
Sequin Belt- Gift
I'm carrying on my minimalist/classic theme. I just can't seem to get excited about wearing anything too fussy these days. I'm also loving these loose oversized blouses. And since 4/5 of the population in my little town think that they're hideous, and would also never step foot in the thrift stores where I find them, I've been given the (self-appointed) task of scooping them all up and giving them a loving home. My life is really tough sometimes*.

And here is a completely gratuitous shot of my three little tomatoes that my darling plant produced! I can't believe I didn't kill it. Yay me!

The Dog Days of Summer

I often find it hard to live in the moment, my mind is constantly running ahead of me trying to imagine the future and planning things. Or stuck in the past, hashing it out and reliving old memories. I know this isn't healthy (and hey, realizing this is the first step...right??) but I guess I chose the right profession. The fashion world is always dissecting past trends/eras and then pushing the "new" season's must-haves waaay before they're actually wearable.

With summer coming to an end its so easy for me to get swept up in the excitement of fall (mmm... pumpkin-spice lattes, vibrant orange leaves...boots!!) and it really is my favorite season so I always look forward to its appearance. But it's also followed closely by winter. Boo. So I'm trying to live in the fashion moment of right now; The hot, balmy, lazy days of mid-august. To get myself excited about this present state I've rounded up a few gorgeous, languid photos filled with beautiful neutrals, interesting accessories, and that certain je ne sais quoi that happens when the temperature sky rockets.

Ready to Start

Ready to Start- Arcade Fire
I had a fairly long debate with myself as to whether I should post these photos or wait until next week. You see, despite the fact that there are no actual duplicate pieces of clothing it looks eerily similar to my last outfit. Darn. I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again, I tend to get obsessed with a "look" and then do it to death or until I find a new obsession du jour! In the end I figured that this is a blog about what I'm wearing and well... this is what I'm wearing! Hopefully you guys aren't bored yet, I promise I'll mix it up a bit more in the next few days!
Blouse and Purse- Thrifted
Skirt- Joe
Ring and necklace- Le Chateau
Belt and Earrings- Vintage
Shoes- Aldo

I had today off, which was a nice mid-week surprise! Charlie (the purse) and I went grocery shopping, thrift shopping and then for a long walk on the beach (I may be lying about one of these things...). And now I'm dragging a friend out into the middle of nowhere (a 5 min drive) to watch the meteor shower! Apparently it's supposed to be cloudy with a chance of a thunderstorm but until the rain actually starts to come down I'm not cancelling! I have no idea why but I LOVE meteor showers!

VCR

VCR- The xx
I find that when my mind gets all hectic and bogged up I strip down what I'm wearing and just focus on the basics. Like a plain white shirt and a little black dress. It's a coping mechanism of sorts (do normal people have coping mechanisms for their wardrobes??). But in a way, I feel that this style also really suits me, geesh! I'm a walking contradiction. I love a blunder of prints in an outfit, tons of accessories and intricate details yet I can still find such joy in simple basic wardrobe necessities... I guess I'm just trying to find myself and my style. That's what I feel your 20's and 30's are for though, trying on different persona's until you find one that fits.
Tee- Joe
Skirt (yeah.. you know that dress that I've reworked a million ways...)- Le Chateau
Purse and Belt- Thrifted
Shoes- Pierre Hardy for Gap
Assorted Jewelry
So I do have an admission for you. Maybe it's not something that should be shared on the internet but I can't really keep it in. I'm madly in love. With my new purse. There, I said it!! I found him in Value Village on Sunday and I swear it was love at first sight. Maybe I'm still in the giddy lust stage, but I really do think this one is a keeper! He's vintage, leather, the perfect little size to hold just the essentials and the cross-body strap is insanely perfect! Ah! I think I have to log off now so that I can go snuggle with him on the couch!

Semi-Charmed Life

Semi-Charmed Life- Third Eye Blind
This is Monique. She rocks. For reals.
This was my Wednesday night. It rocked. For reals. (haha sorry, had to put that in there!)

ANYWAYS! So Monique, Brooke (from last post) and I usually get together on Wed nights to be complete girls, talk about clothes and style and plan out how to take over the fashion scene in our town (not hard, just a lot of work!). We get all businessy with charts, books and notes (plus a bottle of wine... What? I'm sure business meetings in Europe have copious amounts of wine!). This week Brooke was stuck in bed with a terrible cold so Monique and I decided to forgo all the planning and instead do an impromptu photo shoot a la Terry Richardson*! We got all dressed up and ran around her apartment with our cameras (Thank goodness her Mr was working late, the poor guy wouldn't have stood a chance against all the fashion fun!)
On Monique
Top: Urban Outfitters
Skirt: Giant Tiger (holla!)
Purse: Le Chateau
Bracelet: Forever 21
Watch: Aldo
Shoes: Jeffery Campbell (drool....)

On Me
Romper: FCUK
Cuff and (Monique's!) Shoes: Aldo
Earrings: Vintage from Mum
This girl is seriously awesome, one of the funniest (proof below), sweetest and most stylish ladies that I know. She has a blog with her equally adorable sister and if you ever need inspiration or just to look at her insanely killer style you have to head over to WPLY (We Probably Love You). There is also the most ridiculously hilarious photo from last night on her blog right meow and I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Now, how's that for an incentive!?

*No, I do NOT agree with Terry as a person. He is creepy and uses his power and status to corrupt innocent  models. He does have a talent though. He is an amazing photographer. Shame about his personality though...
