Lovefool

Dear, I feel we're facing a problem.
This skirt is just too much fun to play dress-up with and yet it is not mine! The lovely Mina of Faboulista lent it to me at the last blogger swap we had. It definitely adds more junk in the trunk which can pose a problem, but it's also crazy soft and slinky and with a fitted top looks quite breezy.
I was originally going to pair it with something sleek, a black cami and a heavy necklace, but when it accidentally slipped next to this floral tank I just went with it. It definitely takes the skirt in a more fun and flirty way, which is the perfect mood for summer!
Blue Drape Skirt- Mina's, Floral Tank- Banana Republic, Black Platform Shoes- Le Chateau, Black Studded Belt- Gap, Watch- Guess
And since I've been working like a dog (surprise Louise! Handing in your two weeks notice when you still have four weeks to go, not so smart.) I'm going to keep this short and sweet.
Hope you're having a swell week lovelies!

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Breakfast at Tiffany's- Deep Blue Something
Well, it's been an eventful week. Complete with a dog adoption, house viewing, cat stealing, stuff-I-don't-want-to-talk-about, and many sleepless nights. So. This being my day off I slept in till 9am and then proceeded to make myself some very yummy pancakes. It was a good morning!

The cat stealing in question was me nabbing Binx for a few nights to keep me company. I had a dog, Sophie, staying with me until she found a permanent home. She was found by a friend up North and she's just the cutest little scruff ever. I had a blast with her, even if she did try to maul my shoe collection and pee on my floors. When she left it seemed eerily quiet, that's where Binx comes in.

Skirt- Banana Republic (Outlet, 6 years ago...)
Tee- American Apparel
Shoes- Le Chateau
Watch- Guess
Belt- Gap

I found this skirt the other day, during some seasonal wardrobe switching. I bought it when I was just a baby, fresh out of high school. I remember thinking how grown-up and ladylike it was... completely impractical for a seventeen year old girl who was a waitressing at the time. But it was love, and the heart wants what it wants (it was also dirt cheap!). I've barely worn the pretty thing though, it's just so dressy, but I decided I'd pair it with a very casual tee to tone it down. I think that might be one of my favorite things to do, pair something uber dressy with something so laid-back. Now excuse me while I go find a flannel shirt to pair with my prom dress...

Here's some eye candy for good measure!
Scrumptious morning pancakes with blueberries and lemon curd

The most adorable little puppy ever, Sophie!

In Your Hands

Bah! What has happened to my time?! It's 8pm right now and I'm still running around! I guess I'm not really complaining though... I would rather be too busy than have nothing to do!

I've had this skirt for ages, it's a few sizes too big so I hardly wear it but I really felt like being a lady today so I tucked it under my shirt and belted it to make it stay up... it kinda worked. Well, there were lots of readjustments all day. But I didn't flash anyone (yay!). I'm really loving pairing plain tee's with fancy skirts lately. It's such a cute juxtaposition, and I love anything unexpected!

Tee: American Apparel
Skirt: Thrifted
Belt: Gap
Shoes: Aldo
Watch: Guess
Bow Headband: Le Chateau
Self Made Necklace
Lovely: Animated movies! I'm heading out to see Despicable Me right now and I am SO excited! I swear, I'm still just a scrawny, rambunctious, little 5 year old inside!

Gold Guns Girls

So first off, these photos didn't really turn out. It was an off day I guess; between being rushed, intermittent rain showers and  somehow an epic fail with my focus skills on the camera these are the best of (a very small) bunch! It still shows what I wore though and introduces my new necklace! I won it from the Ruche giveaway that the lovely Jen at jenloveskev hosted!

* note: When a friend saw it he informed me that it hardly counts as a necklace and should be called a "neck accessory". Geesh, boys! They either don't notice what you're wearing or they get all smart-arsey!

Anyways, my "neck accessory" is awesome and adds a lot more interest to an otherwise basic outfit. I also tested out the red lips, not so sure I love it on me. I always get tempted to try it out again after seeing other girls rock it. But I just get so self-conscious and end up layering a nude lipstick over top!

Sweater and Skirt: Le Chateau
Cami: F21
Necklace: Ruche
Shoes: Anne Klein
Cuff: Aldo
Lovely: Manitoba Sunrises. I may live in the flattest area of the World and yes, as a matter of fact I can see my dog runaway for 5 days, but we have hands down the most gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. You can see so much of the sky and it just comes alive. The below photo was snapped last weekend (I randomly woke up at around 530 am...!? Took a photo and then zonked out again) and is just a taste of what they're like!

Sweet Darlin'

Silly weather. It's still overcast and gloomy, I think we had more Sun in April than in May and June combined! But I have my pretty dress, and a sweater to make it weather appropriate so we're all good! I love how this belt just adds the right amount of tough to this super girly outfit (3 bows!) and makes me feel slightly less like a 12 year old girl!

Dress: BB Dakota
Sweater and Belt: Gap
Shoes: Joe
Headband: Smart Set
Necklace: Self Made

I went to the lake this past weekend (well, not MY lake (us Manitobans get very proprietary about our lakes!) but it was still pretty sweet) and fully enjoyed myself despite the rain and chill. It even cleared up enough on Saturday night for a campfire with.... dum dum dum... Banana Boats! I'm drooling again just thinking about their banana, chocolate and marshmallow gooey goodness! I brought my camera with me but, as usual, I forgot to take any photos. Geesh!

Also, to all my American readers: Seriously, Ben & Jerry's ice cream is only $2.50 down there?!!? WTH? It's $7 here in Canada so I rarely let myself splurge and buy it. Needless to say when I saw the price I grabbed 3 tubs and am now fully prepared to enjoy tonight (just kidding, it will hopefully last me at least a week!)
Lovely: Eating icing straight from the mixing bowl as second breakfast! Don't worry, it's a cream cheese icing so it's healthy... right?

p.s Just realized how much food I talk about in this post. Bahaha what can I say, I really love food!

Don't Do Me Like That

It's still all gloomy outside so I put on a simple outfit, with some of my favorite stand-bys. You can't really go wrong with a black scoop neck or a camel skirt. To add a bit more me to the ensemble (and because I tend to feel naked with out my so called "bling") I added some stand-out accessories; an over-sized ring, a turquoise feather necklace and a nice flower in the hair! I guess the polka dot tights and strappy shoes also make this normal outfit more "me". Ah... the power of some great accessories!

I didn't really get up to much in this outfit either, just working in the office and a quick run to the library. I just feel funny not getting pulled together and dressed for the day though. I guess I chose the right profession then!

Top and Flower Headband: Smart Set
Skirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: Franco Sarto
Tights: Joe
Ring: Suzy Shier
Self Made Necklace

Lovely Thing: A weekend of girliness with some awesome friends! This includes a trip to "the City" (pfft... I'm so small town!)a day of shopping and supper out! I can't wait!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend too!

p.s I'm thinking about finally switching up the hair... any ideas?? This is just my natural hair colour and it hasn't been cut in about 6 months (I'm kinda low-key with it). I don't look good with extreme colours (black, bleach blond etc.) but am up for a change! Any help is appreciated! xx

Back In Your Head

So here we go, first post. Very Exciting! First things first: the outfit. Basically it's easy and comfy, I woke up late and it's cold which always makes me opt a bit more for comfort than for wow factor (hey, it's MB...winter is COLD!). The leopard does rack it up a notch though. No outside pics today (because of the cold) but I'm going to try for some tomorrow.

Coat: Le Chateau
Top: Gap boyfriend tee
Skirt: Vintage
Leggings: American Apparel
Boots: Liz Claiborne

I got the proofs for the business cards today...they look AMAZING (caps were definitely needed there)! I literally cannot wait to hand them out. I'll post a pic when I get a chance, along with more business details as it goes. It's all very exciting though and I'm so glad I'm actually taking a leap and starting this up, it's long over due!

Stay tuned xxx
