Chances Are

Kismet.
I think I'm going to start defining it as "when you wear something that just happens to be in a colour you're studying at school". Or, I'll just keep it as fate. We'll see.
It was pretty perfect timing to wear this gorgeous skirt during our colour theory classes, never underestimate the power of being a walking visual aid!
Royal Blue Skirt- Borrowed from Cee at Coco & Vera (similar), Beige Sweater- Old Navy (similar), Grey Felt Hat- American Apparel (similar), Grey Suede Pumps- Nine West, Black Studded Belt- Gap, Wrap Bracelet- Club Monaco
As soon as I laid eyes on this gorgeous skirt of Cee's I pounced, I was swept off my feet by the colour and flow. Completely gorgeous!
And it's just as much fun as it seems to wear it, and surprisingly versatile. Plus it gave me an excuse to wear my coziest new sweater and favourite floppy hat, so it's lived up to all of my high expectations!

Two Against One

Two Against One- Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi
Oh, hello you!
I was thinking of titling this post "Walking in the Sun" as that was the song I was actually listening to. But that's just cruel. Apparently it's summer, and these photos were taken in mid July, but let me assure you that the long skirt and sweater were needed. Oh yes, an umbrella was too.

Still, walking around my local farmer's market and watching the sun set while sitting on the beach (even if cocoa and blankets are needed) is a bliss that I'm not ready to give up.
Ecru Sweater- Urban Outfitters, Long Grey Maxi Skirt- Aritzia, Gold Sandals and Turquoise Ring- Aldo, Long Necklace- From the Earth, Short Gold Necklace- FXXI, Watch- Vintage, Wrap Bracelet- Club Monaco
I also feel that a disclosure is needed: one of my favourite people is in town this week and I knew ahead of time that there would be too many girl chats, road trips, mini adventures and laughing for me to be a consistent blogger. I know my strengths, and that is not one of them! So these posts have been written well ahead of time and scheduled, hence the possibly non-relating babble (hopefully we're now in the middle of a full blown heat wave... one can hope?)
How has your week been?

Rock It

Rock It- Little Red
Oh J. Crew, can you do any wrong? This vibrant little skirt (that I found on super super sale at the J. Crew Outlet!) makes me smile, I mean... just look how cheery it is. Obviously an instant smile.
I was hell bent on not wearing tights today. I love them, but I just couldn't pull them on for the 7th time this week. So even though it was a tad chilly outside, I bared my pale legs and threw a chunky, cozy sweater on instead... then spent the entire time with chattering teeth and a desire for a large cup of hot tea. I was still smiling though!
Sweater- Urban Outfitters, Watercolour Floral Skirt- J Crew, Desert Boots- Liz Claiborne via Winners, Key Necklace- From the lovely A. Co, Leather Strap Bracelet- H&M, Turquoise Ring- Aldo, Bow Headband- Smart Set
Its been a fun weekend, filled with hikes, scoping out possible new apartments and a trip out to the ballet last night to see "Wonderland". Not too shabby! Hopefully the upcoming week is just as lovely... I have a few big things I need to sort out and work on and need all the luck I can get!

There Goes the Fear

There Goes the Fear- Doves
I have to say, I feel bad @$$ in this. Rarr. A friend and I used to joke that I had an alter ego because I'm usually such a little wholesome granny- with all my knitting and baking and crafts (and cat!)- but every once in a while I like being a little darker (k, full disclosure: bad to me means... not taking off mascara before bed! gasp! And learning to drive a motorcycle! No rule breaking for this granny). I don't think I'll ever fully embrace my inner (mini) wild child, but its fun to wear an outfit that lets me pretend!
Metallic Knit Sweater- H&M, Black Leggings- Joe Fresh, Grey Floppy Hat- American Apparel, Black Cami- Banana Republic, Slouch Boots- Le Chateau, Wrap Bracelet- Club Monaco
So now this alias of mine is going to curl up to watch The Office and eat some ice cream... straight from the carton! Damn, she's bad to the bone.

Hush

Hush- Angus and Julia Stone
Such a lazy, cozy Sunday- exactly what I needed. I headed down to Seattle for the day on Saturday (just because I could!)  and didn't get home till late, so getting the chance to laze around for most of the day today was delightful!
I didn't get any shots of Seattle... I was not on the ball that morning! But I did stop by the outlets on the way back and found this adorable little duck Kate Spade umbrella and a comfy sparkle sweater from Jcrew. Getting them both for ridiculous low prices just made it even sweeter.
Umbrella- Kate Spade, Silver Foil Sweater- Jcrew, Black LEggings- Joe Fresh
Now excuse me while I curl up with my book and go to bed at 9. I know, Rockstar!
How was your weekend?

Skinny Love

Skinny Love- Bon Iver
I think there's a direct correlation with between drops in temperatures and increases in layers worn. Whenever the mercury dips annoyingly close to -30ÂșC the amount of my wardrobe that gets to see daylight increases drastically. Funny that.
So while I was manically (and ruthlessly) cleaning out my closet I stumbled on this ancient faux fur collar. Another layer! And one I had been lusting after too- I love when that happens! I bought the beauty way back in 2003 during a trip and then felt that it was too "mature" for me, or something, and it promptly fell into the depths of my closet. Since rediscovering it it's been one of my favourite layers. Maybe the drop in temperatures isn't such a bad thing after all... :)

I finished my Christmas shopping today (woo!), cleaned, did laundry, puppy sat and had a lovely lunch date with an awesome friend. A pretty successful day off I'd say, and now I get to curl up in front of my Christmas tree with a glass of wine and sketch to my heart's content. Mmmhmm... bliss.
What's your favourite thing to do on a cold winter night?
