I Follow Rivers

Fall has decided that it wants to be late to it's own party out here. What a jerk! But as long as school is still a go and pumpkin spice lattes are cropping up on menus, then I really don't mind all that much and will continue to soak up this gorgeous sunshine.

Although, when it's boiling outside and you've switched your wardrobe to layers, sweaters and boots you stand to have some awkward layer-shedding moments! I loved this slouchy lazy day outfit but by the time I got home I was sadly only wearing the dress (luckily I'd snuck in the flip flops that Cougar had sent along with these boots, very smart thinking on their part!)
Knit Slouch Sweater- H&M, Printed Dress- Hurley via Winners, Pillow Boots- c/o Cougar, Grey Knee Socks- Dollarama, Brown Belt- Vintage, Gold Necklace- Joe Fresh, Wrap Bracelet- Club Monaco
And now to the star of this outfit, the vintage-style Pillow Boots from Cougar! Seriously, how awesome are these beauties? Practical and pretty... my feet are going to love me when winter sets in!
The Pillow Boot is a Canadian classic that was launched by Cougar in 1976 and has just been relaunched this Fall with these limited edition modern take on the classic. The fact that they're crazy cozy, can battle the Canadian winter and look cute makes them my superheroes, I can't wait to put them to the test when the snow starts to fall. Although, I hope that's not going to be anytime too soon!

Take Me to the Riot

Take Me to the Riot- Stars
I have a confession guys- I am incredibly introverted and awkward. Taking photos in front of people scares the bejeezus out of me- I immediately clam up and can only remember how to make ridiculous faces (yes, they get more ridiculous!). I've known this fact for years: My mum informed me when I was 10 that I was not at all photogenic, and could not in fact sing. Gee, thanks mother. But surprisingly, my mum is so sweet that these facts actually came out as compliments... I still don't understand how...
Anyways, that brings me to this hidden little place that I found to take these photos. I decided to veer off the usual path while at the canyon and came across a sunlit little patch of hidden glory! Imagine my delight that I could take my photos once again in solitude!
Floral Dress- Winners, Black Blazer- Thrifted, Black Cami- Banana Republic, Black Boots- House of Harlow, Black Tights- Target, Wrap Bracelets- Club Monaco and DIY, Brown Belt- Vintage
And this is a little photo from my other piece of solitude this weekend- chilling out max (and relaxing all cool and shooting... no?? Am I the only one who remembers Fresh Prince?) at Ambleside beach on Saturday. The sun was shining and I had a new book to dive into. C'est parfait!

Bambi

Bambi- Tokyo Police Club
Whew! Some how it's only Wednesday. I'm not quite sure how this is possible as it feels like I should be having a long stretch of a weekend coming up right about now... but I've double checked my calendar all day, and I'm 80% sure it's not lying! But it has been a good Wednesday regardless, I've found some awesome new roommates and have a very promising lead on a house! You have no idea how much I've been stressing over the living situation recently (the looming deadline wasn't helping!) so I'm feeling much lighter today.
So with that slightly more sorted, I went for a little walk and photo shoot at the canyon after work today, playing hide and go seek with all the good people who were out jogging and not being narcissistic!
Not too impressed with all the rain today!
Pastel Flower Dress- H&M, Purple Sweater- Gap, Purple Belt- American Apparel, Black Boots- House of Harlow, Black Tights- Target, Camel Trench and Black Beret- Le Chateau, Silver Leaf and Bliss Necklace- Gifts
Oh! And I found a coat rack... obviously nature-made just for me. Yup, a very good Wednesday!

Heavy Soul

Heavy Soul- The Black Keys
I have a case of the mean reds.... well, maybe the moody blues (haha). But seriously, how pissed off do I look in these photos?? It was painful, and really, it's not like anything had even happened! Just lack of sleep and some looming deadlines- but I went home and polished off my little jar of Nutella while watching The Office. I feel quite chipper now!
Navy Blazer- R. W. and Co., Stripe Shirt and Black Wool Shorts- H&M, Purple Tights- Marks and Spencers, Black Boots- House of Harlow, Pearl Necklace- Vintage from Granny
Anyways I hope you're all having a lovely day, it is Wednesday after all... which, for me, means that tomorrow is the last work day this week and then I'm off on a road trip to a friend's wedding in Calgary! Wooo!

There Goes the Fear

There Goes the Fear- Doves
I have to say, I feel bad @$$ in this. Rarr. A friend and I used to joke that I had an alter ego because I'm usually such a little wholesome granny- with all my knitting and baking and crafts (and cat!)- but every once in a while I like being a little darker (k, full disclosure: bad to me means... not taking off mascara before bed! gasp! And learning to drive a motorcycle! No rule breaking for this granny). I don't think I'll ever fully embrace my inner (mini) wild child, but its fun to wear an outfit that lets me pretend!
Metallic Knit Sweater- H&M, Black Leggings- Joe Fresh, Grey Floppy Hat- American Apparel, Black Cami- Banana Republic, Slouch Boots- Le Chateau, Wrap Bracelet- Club Monaco
So now this alias of mine is going to curl up to watch The Office and eat some ice cream... straight from the carton! Damn, she's bad to the bone.

Girls Like You

Girls Like You- The Naked and Famous
I love how a red coat can take an otherwise plain outfit and just... bam. Step it up a level! My wrinkled blouse and jean outfit would have made quite the disappointing post had it not been for this beauty. So on a relaxed Saturday I threw it on and headed 5 min East to the canyon (hah. There's an actual canyon basically in my backyard. Still don't think I'll ever get over that!) to get some much needed outdoor photos.
Red Coat- Costa Blanca, Skinny Jeans and Desert Boots- Winners, Blue Button Up- Zara, Brown Belt- Vintage from Mum, Silver Necklace- Gift, Long Necklace- Club Monaco

Rolling in the Deep

Rolling in the Deep- Adele
I don't normally talk about the songs that contribute to my post titles, but o. my. I think I'm deeply obsessed with this one! It's been on repeat... over and over again! The perfect song to warble out while working out (...or more likely knitting...shhh).
And seeing as I've brought the cold weather out to BC with me, I might as well sing this beauty to my heart's content while cocooning in my apartment this snowy weekend!
Black Jacket- Le Chateau, Green Men's Shirt- H&M, Black Cami- Banana Republic, Leggings- Joe Fresh, Scarf/Shawl- Value Village, Brown Boots- Aldo, Long Necklace- Club Monaco, Silver Necklace- Gift
I mean, it's hardly like this "snow storm" (yes, I did hear a local call it that...pfft!) should stop me from running around, but it's kind of a nice excuse to throw on a warm scarf/shawl and many layers. I've been in a bit of a rut fashion wise lately, the only reason I can come up with is that I'm not feeling really settled. Apparently, being in-between houses does an odd thing to my sense of style! But I did feel like myself again in this, layered and cozy with a bit of vintage and of course, my boots!

Ready to Start

Ready to Start- Arcade Fire
It was an absolutely gorgeous weekend, very unlike all the February's that I'm used to! A light blazer and scarf were all that were needed for roaming around outside by the ocean. The sun made my eyes stream while getting photos, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!
Just a simple, classic outfit- kinda Louise 101! Beige? Check. Stripes? Check. Boots? Of course. :)
Beige Wool Blazer- Aritzia, Stripe Shirt and Sunglasses- Joe Fresh, Black Jeans- Gap, Black Equestrian Boots- House of Harlow, Brocade Pashmina- Smart Set, Wrap Bracelet- Club Monaco,
squint squint squint!
I also ended up finding the coolest playground with a pirate ship! Uhm... amazing!! Why let the 5yr olds have all the fun??
