Guest Post- Brooke Meagan Jones

Hello Loves! I had to take a break this week from blogging, and figured it would be the perfect time to introduce you to my beautiful friend Brooke! She was kind enough to write a guest post for the Sparrow and I love that she wore the sweater that we both just happen to own. Smart girl this one.

Wearing: Sweater- Old Navy (now $30)

Hi everyone! My name is Brooke and I blog over at Brooke Meagan Jones. I'm very excited to be coming to you today from Louise's prairie hometown. I'm the one she left behind. Sigh....

Anyway, I really enjoyed Louise's recent post about the satisfaction you can get out of shopping your closet, re-wearing items, and getting creative with your wardrobe. When I noticed that Louise and I have a cozy sweater in common, I knew it would be a great opportunity to show just how much I can relate to re-wearing items and just how versatile a simple sweater can be. Last week, Louise paired her sweater with a gorgeous blue skirt, and today, I'm sharing with you three totally different ways I've already worn the exact same piece. Sweater season is only just getting started, and this little beauty has already proven its worth. I'm one satisfied closet shopper!

What pieces are you remixing this fall?

Unsent

Unsent- Alanis Morissette
Oh Boy, aren't you guys lucky? Just look at the gorgeous setting for my outfit shot! ;)
Truthfully, these were not ever going to be published. I wore this outfit to a gorgeous wedding on Saturday and these photos are from the night before when I had tried on a bunch of different dresses. I tend to take photos of the contending outfits, it helps me decide which one worked best (does anyone else do this??)! But then Saturday was a whirlwind and I didn't get a chance to snap some better ones. So I hope you aren't too distracted by the yoga mat, easel, books and shoes in the background!

Black Silk and Velvet Dress: Theory (Borrowed from the Lovely Brooke)
Nude Patent Shoes, Shell Clutch and Sequin Headband: Aldo
Pearl and (fake) Diamond Ring: Le Chateau
Pearl Necklace: Vintage (Grandma's)
Navy Blazer (worn for the ceremony): R.W. and Co.

I'm completely in love with the ladylike flow of this dress, plus it created a perfect excuse to treat myself to some new nude shoes (found in the Aldo sale for $20...holla!!). It also worked perfectly on the dance floor, so much so that I ended up (most likely ungracefully) tearing the floor up! But the bride looked gorgeous, the groom was dashing and there was copious amounts of laughter, friends, wine and dancing. All in all, a very successful wedding!
Congrats A and M!!

Ottoman

Ottoman- Vampire Weekend
A lovely friend of mine, in real life and in fashion blog world, posted an outfit a little while ago on her blog Miss Jones and Me (such an addictive blog!) where she said that I was the influence. This made me feel super proud because damn. the girl can seriously dress to kill and I couldn't quite believe she used me as inspiration!

Anyways, that got me to thinking about where I get my inspiration from and made me think a bit more about who I was channeling in an outfit. So last night, bored out of my mind (hey, it was a Monday!) I decided to get dressed and take photos. After pulling different things from the wardrobe I decided that I wanted to make an outfit inspired by Brooke! She always rocks the cutest socks with her heels and has a tendency to do sexy without showing too much skin (yes. I realize I'm showing a hell of a lot of leg here! And yes, Brooke is classier than that! BUT my a/c is broken and the sweat was starting to collect on my brows so the legs came out!)

Shirt: Zara
Self Made Cut-Offs and Bow Peep Toes: Joe
Socks and Cuff: Aldo
Peacock Earrings: Gift

I completely loved playing dress up and found out that socks with shoes are definitely wearable, I can't wait to wear them out of the house now! I hope Brooke is ok with me stealing inspiration from her too, it was fun to break out of my own styling mindset and try on a new character!
