Giving Up The Gun

Giving Up The Gun- Vampire Weekend
So we're carrying on the shorts and tights theme, so original. But it works! Warm enough for the cool Spring breeze, but not as uncomfortable and constraining as pants. Although, I did over-layer the top half of the outfit- a tee, sweater and jean jacket was major overkill for the lovely warm day we had.
Jean Jacket- Old Navy, Beige Sweater- Urban Outfitters, Black Wool Shorts- H&M, Black Tights- Target, Camel Desert Boots- Liz Clairborne (via Winners), Earrings and Belt- Vintage, Turquoise Ring- Aldo
I feel like a total 90's baby in this outfit! All these little pieces of my childhood melded together in an outfit... the jean jacket, the shorts and tights and, of course, the "Elaine" hair. Oh if only my grade 3 self could see me now, I think she'd approve :)

p.s Stay tuned for an AWESOME DIY that I stumbled on (and actually managed to pull off!). I think it might be my new favourite thing!

Bambi

Bambi- Tokyo Police Club
Whew! Some how it's only Wednesday. I'm not quite sure how this is possible as it feels like I should be having a long stretch of a weekend coming up right about now... but I've double checked my calendar all day, and I'm 80% sure it's not lying! But it has been a good Wednesday regardless, I've found some awesome new roommates and have a very promising lead on a house! You have no idea how much I've been stressing over the living situation recently (the looming deadline wasn't helping!) so I'm feeling much lighter today.
So with that slightly more sorted, I went for a little walk and photo shoot at the canyon after work today, playing hide and go seek with all the good people who were out jogging and not being narcissistic!
Not too impressed with all the rain today!
Pastel Flower Dress- H&M, Purple Sweater- Gap, Purple Belt- American Apparel, Black Boots- House of Harlow, Black Tights- Target, Camel Trench and Black Beret- Le Chateau, Silver Leaf and Bliss Necklace- Gifts
Oh! And I found a coat rack... obviously nature-made just for me. Yup, a very good Wednesday!

Go Your Own Way

Go Your Own Way- Fleetwood Mac (yeah. That's right!)
I've been saving this little dress for photos for when it's sunny enough to go without a cover-up. It has the cutest cut- all Audrey Hepburn on top and pouffy below the waist, I feel like quite the pretty ballerina when I wear it...and isn't that every girl's wish?? So I decided to forgo the waiting and post photos the next time I wore it, I always was crap at waiting for things anyways!
Polka Dot Dress- Zara, Red Coat- Costa Blanca, Brown Belt- Vintage, Black Tights- Target, Brown Colour Clock Shoes- Mellow Yellow, Gold Feather Bracelet- Archive Vintage

I keep seeing people rocking the most perfect vintage brooches everywhere, and as I was cropping these photos I couldn't help but feel that this outfit would be brought up that extra bit with a little beauty attached to it. Too bad about the self-imposed shopping ban... a girl can hope and wish though (and possibly search her mum's vintage jewelry collection next time she visits MB!)
Have a wonderful Tuesday lovelies!

The Perfect Space

The Perfect Space- The Avett Brothers
My hunt is finally over! Ever since August I've been lusting after the perfect pair of high waisted khakis that have a "carrot" top for two reasons 1) because c'mon, any pair of pants that you can relate to a vegetable is pretty awesome (!) and 2) when I was in Bordeaux in Nov all the most stylish french girls were wearing them and it just seemed so... effortlessly chic. But every pair I tried on (in excess of 25!) looked horrible! Too tight at the calves, M.C. Hammer-ish, way too baggy in all the wrong places. This girl was just about to wave her white flag and give up, figuring that I just wasn't made for them. But then I stumbled on these beauties and figured I might as well just try on one more pair. Then it was over for me. The search had ended!
Black Peacoat- Le Chateau, Black Sheer Shirt- Costa Blanca, Khaki Carrot Pants- Wilfred via Aritzia, Gold Bead Necklace- Target, Brown Belt- Vintage, Wrap Bracelets- Club Monaco and H&M, Nude Flats- Joe Fresh
And now I have a cozy Sunday night ahead of me, with some yummy food from the farmer's market, a good book and hopefully a bit of painting (...possibly an Okanagan Apple Cider too!)
Has anyone got a book to recommend? I'm almost done my current one (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer) and am always looking for hidden gems.

Girls Like You

Girls Like You- The Naked and Famous
I love how a red coat can take an otherwise plain outfit and just... bam. Step it up a level! My wrinkled blouse and jean outfit would have made quite the disappointing post had it not been for this beauty. So on a relaxed Saturday I threw it on and headed 5 min East to the canyon (hah. There's an actual canyon basically in my backyard. Still don't think I'll ever get over that!) to get some much needed outdoor photos.
Red Coat- Costa Blanca, Skinny Jeans and Desert Boots- Winners, Blue Button Up- Zara, Brown Belt- Vintage from Mum, Silver Necklace- Gift, Long Necklace- Club Monaco

The Great Escape

The Great Escape: Patrick Watson
There's no denying it, I'm a classic kind of girl; I love love love timeless pieces. I feel most comfortable in the classic items that my mum (and possibly grandma) would have worn. A trench and a brocade scarf fall into this gorgeous category. So, on my day off this week, between packing, calling hotels and washing many (many!) loads of laundry, I snuggled up in my cozy camel trench and felt completely at home.

And with that... here I go! I have my whirlwind trip ahead of me, I'll try to stay in touch (I'd miss you all too much!)  and I have a few posts lined up. Also, if anyone knows any good French sentences for me, please comment, I need all the help I can get!
Au Revoir!

Radioactive

Radioactive- Kings of Leon
I love how the colour red just wakes everything up. I'm still trying to get over a cold/flu from these past few days but as soon as the coat went on I felt much more alive (less like the zombie that I had been all day!). Plus stripes are my happy print, so classic and French, and the pumpkin spice latte didn't hurt either! Definitely feeling better now!

I still haven't decided what to be for Halloween, it always sneaks up on me! I was thinking of being a double rainbow (LOVED the video!!) but also thinking Audrey Hepburn as I have everything easily accessible in my wardrobe. Hmmm.
What about you? What are you guys being for Halloween?
