Letters

I'm a planner, a list maker, a play by the rules kind of girl. Spontaneous trips to places I've never been just don't happen for me.
But I also thought I didn't like avocados for the first 20 years of my life, and lately I can't get enough (guac and sangria on a Thursday night? Best. Ever.) So, when a friend called up to see if I wanted to go on a road trip this weekend out to the Okanagan... well, why not?
And wouldn't you know, it was a total blast. Maybe I need to step out of my comfort zones more often!
Felt Panama Hat- Pendleton via 3 Vets, Taupe Cardigan- J. Crew, Black Cami- FXXI, Cut-off Shorts- American Eagle, Booties- Liz Claiborne via Winners
And I found my hat!
For the beauties that follow me on Twitter you'll know that I've spent the better part of the last few months on a hunt for a felt panama hat, in the style of Rag & Bone... but at a fraction of the price! I was directed to the camping/outdoor enthusiast store 3 Vets a few weeks ago and finally got a chance to stop in.
And there it was, this Pendleton piece of perfection. I cannot wait to style it up for Fall!

Moves

Moves- The New Pornographers
Guess who found a haaat?! (please sing that, as I just did) It's not the right hat, but it's a right now hat. My real lover hat is roughly this shape and style but a taupy brown colour. Oh, and it would actually fit my head. This one just cuts off circulation and makes a delightful red band around my head that doesn't go away.
Awkwaaaard.
But it's cute and it was only $2 at the local thrift store, so it will tide me over till I can find my true love.
Floral Dress- H&M, Brocade Scarf- Picked up in my travels...somewhere?, Wood Platform Heels- Pierre Hardy for Gap, White Felt Panama Hat- Thrifted, Grandpa Watch- Vintage, Silver Bracelet- Gift, Hex Nut Bracelet- DIY!
I'm back from Toronto today, after a week away, and then it's a quick sleep at home before flitting off on a road trip to Kelowna for my sister's grad. Oh the life of a Canadian jet-setter is so glam!
I'm so proud of my sister though, she's been in school since she was 4 and has always set the bar so high, so I'm thrilled that I get to celebrate with her at the end. Plus, I really don't think I've met any people who throw a better/wilder party than doctors. True fact. (also a scary one!)
Hope your week is just as much fun!

There Goes the Fear

There Goes the Fear- Doves
I have to say, I feel bad @$$ in this. Rarr. A friend and I used to joke that I had an alter ego because I'm usually such a little wholesome granny- with all my knitting and baking and crafts (and cat!)- but every once in a while I like being a little darker (k, full disclosure: bad to me means... not taking off mascara before bed! gasp! And learning to drive a motorcycle! No rule breaking for this granny). I don't think I'll ever fully embrace my inner (mini) wild child, but its fun to wear an outfit that lets me pretend!
Metallic Knit Sweater- H&M, Black Leggings- Joe Fresh, Grey Floppy Hat- American Apparel, Black Cami- Banana Republic, Slouch Boots- Le Chateau, Wrap Bracelet- Club Monaco
So now this alias of mine is going to curl up to watch The Office and eat some ice cream... straight from the carton! Damn, she's bad to the bone.

Black & Blue

Black & Blue- Miike Snow
This is definitely the most ladylike dress I own, which took a little while to get used to! The polka dots and pretty way it moves just sold me though, and I have to get away from mini skirts at some point in my life (or so I've been told). It was perfect for yesterday and I felt quite vintage all day (I had to throw a cardigan on for work though as it's the same temperature as a meat locker!)
Dress: Zellers (for real!)
Hat: American Apparel
Boots and Turquoise Ring: Aldo
Tights: Le Chateau
Belt: Vintage

Tonight I'm in need of a little r & r... and a strawberry milkshake. Luckily, I fully intend of checking both these items off my list! I'm going to curl up on my big comfy couch and watch the Gossip Girl Premiere (only kind of follow the show, but the clothes and the fact that the episode is in Paris are huge draws!). I'm also hoping to finally get caught up with all this Fashion Week info, I love all the snippets of the shows I've seen so far and have been itching to get the full runway rundown!

Hard Headed Woman

Hello!
Apparently there is ice fog outside...I'm not quite sure what that is, but it's a little gloomy looking. To combat this I'm wearing a bright coral sweater (one can hope that the brightness will attract the sun back soon!) I'm also in love with this hat. Jane, of SeaofShoes fame, bought it in the fall and when I saw her wear it I fell in love! It has that awesome 70's hippy feel, but without the patchouli stench.

Binx!

Outfit:
Sweater: JCrew
T- Shirt: Gap Boyfriend Tee
Jeans: Gap
Shows: Nine West
Hat: American Apparel
Necklace: Aldo
Belt: Gap

Brochures for the business are being printed today and I have found out that there are no other "Louise Turner Wardrobe Stylist"s in the province, so good news all around! I've decided that the first day will be March 1st, 2010...yay! Now I'm finishing up the business plan and getting all my duck's in a row.
