Breakfast at Tiffany's- Deep Blue Something
Well, it's been an eventful week. Complete with a dog adoption, house viewing, cat stealing, stuff-I-don't-want-to-talk-about, and many sleepless nights. So. This being my day off I slept in till 9am and then proceeded to make myself some very yummy pancakes. It was a good morning!
The cat stealing in question was me nabbing Binx for a few nights to keep me company. I had a dog, Sophie, staying with me until she found a permanent home. She was found by a friend up North and she's just the cutest little scruff ever. I had a blast with her, even if she did try to maul my shoe collection and pee on my floors. When she left it seemed eerily quiet, that's where Binx comes in.

Skirt- Banana Republic (Outlet, 6 years ago...)
Tee- American Apparel
Shoes- Le Chateau
Watch- Guess
Belt- Gap
I found this skirt the other day, during some seasonal wardrobe switching. I bought it when I was just a baby, fresh out of high school. I remember thinking how grown-up and ladylike it was... completely impractical for a seventeen year old girl who was a waitressing at the time. But it was love, and the heart wants what it wants (it was also dirt cheap!). I've barely worn the pretty thing though, it's just so dressy, but I decided I'd pair it with a very casual tee to tone it down. I think that might be one of my favorite things to do, pair something uber dressy with something so laid-back. Now excuse me while I go find a flannel shirt to pair with my prom dress...
Here's some eye candy for good measure!
Scrumptious morning pancakes with blueberries and lemon curd
This is soo cute...I love mixing dressy with casual..you always do it perfectly. I had some pretty impractical clothing items from that time in life as well..but they're slowly trickling back into my outfits...
ReplyDeleteI love that skirt! Really looks great with the tee. And I love that movie.

Awwwh I was just about to say that those pancakes were the most amazing thing I've seen all day and then I scrolled down and saw Sophie. She is soooo cute. I actually saw your ad on ebrandon for her and wondered if that was you. Yes, I'm weird and check the dog classifieds on a regular basis ha!! I just want a dog so bad. I can see why you miss her.
ReplyDeleteYour skirt is gorgeous by the way. The way you mix dressy and casual pieces is truly inspiring Ms. Turner!! xx

ReplyDeleteP.S.
ReplyDeleteI meant Miss Turner not Ms. Turner. I hate when people put Ms. lol
And I could really use a night out soon. Preferably one with the copious amounts of wine you were talking about earlier tonight!
Amazing pancakes. That picture is making my mouth water. =) I had chocolate covered blueberries for breakfast. =)

Hey woman! i have been sans blogger for a while so I missed a couple of your posts but I am in love with that skirt!! So lady-like and lovely! I totally have things from when I was 17 and had to have a particular dress or item! One dress I have still never worn to this day but I swear the day is coming! lol
ReplyDeleteBut I love how you paired it with a basic tee...still lady-like and chic! :)
