Don't Do Me Like That

It's still all gloomy outside so I put on a simple outfit, with some of my favorite stand-bys. You can't really go wrong with a black scoop neck or a camel skirt. To add a bit more me to the ensemble (and because I tend to feel naked with out my so called "bling") I added some stand-out accessories; an over-sized ring, a turquoise feather necklace and a nice flower in the hair! I guess the polka dot tights and strappy shoes also make this normal outfit more "me". Ah... the power of some great accessories!

I didn't really get up to much in this outfit either, just working in the office and a quick run to the library. I just feel funny not getting pulled together and dressed for the day though. I guess I chose the right profession then!

Lovely Thing: A weekend of girliness with some awesome friends! This includes a trip to "the City" (pfft... I'm so small town!)a day of shopping and supper out! I can't wait!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend too!

p.s I'm thinking about finally switching up the hair... any ideas?? This is just my natural hair colour and it hasn't been cut in about 6 months (I'm kinda low-key with it). I don't look good with extreme colours (black, bleach blond etc.) but am up for a change! Any help is appreciated! xx

Bad Romance (Glee Version)

Nope, the title has nothing to do with the outfit (at all!) but since I'm kind of obsessed with Glee I have been listening to the music all day. Trying to work. Ok, pretending to work. But really, just tapping my toes and wishing I was in a Glee club. I also wish I could sing.

This is not really a fashion outfit, just me day-to-day. I thought I'd include more of these outfits too; The ones that are simple and easy. I'm also barely wearing makeup and haven't brushed my hair yet. Wow... feeling slightly exposed! lol To make myself feel put together I threw on my lovely brown heels, but they're completely hidden by the grass!

Cardigan: Thrifted
Blouse: Joe
Jeans: Winners
Shoes: Franco Sarto
Belt: Vintage
Earrings: Gift
Scarf: Mum (it was cold!)

(trying to make music with a blade of grass... possibly to a Glee song...!)
Lovely Thing: Finding companies like Mend that are making fashion real again.

Fidelity

As these photos will attest to, it's a tad windy outside! And due to the recent rise in blogger/camera accidents I decided to not bring Fernando (the camera) outside with me. Instead. These were taken with him, on his tri-pod, peering out of a window. Hah! So much for composition, focus or even me being in half the photos (I do have some lovely shots of the neighbor's yard on the other hand!)... needless to say, I would not recommend this photography strategy! BUT at least Fernando is safe and sound again and completely intact.

Louise/Fernando: 1     Wind: 0     :)

Anyways, with it being so blah outside I wanted to brighten things up a bit, so I put on my prettiest skirt; It's high waisted, bright and satin. Take that gloom! To dress it down a bit for the day I paired it with a plain tee and a large, comfy scarf. I don't know if I'll ever get bored of wearing "evening" clothes during the day with very non-fancy things. It just feels so bad ass!

Tee: American Apparel
Skirt and Scarf: Le Chateau
Shoes: Liz Claiborne
Belt: Vintage
Lovely Thing: Hearing a song that completely transports you back to a specific moment in your life and relishing the memories all over again! The slow song from a Grade 8 sock-hop, the song that was playing the first time you drove or the song that you and your best friends used to make up dances for! Smile at the memories!

Bulletproof

I must've woken up on the right side of the bed today or something; I've been in a great mood all day and little, silly things have been working out for me! Nothing big... there are still some pretty major stresses, but they can't touch me today! Bam!

It's still gorgeous here (I hear a rumor about a blah weekend... but I'm not gonna dwell on that) so I slipped into my little coral dress and shook my booty outside for some photos! I love how bright the colour is and how it just works so well with the camel and turquoise accessories. We all know how much love I give to this belt (and the bracelet... and the shoes!) so any dress of mine better work with it!

Dress: Joe
Belt: Vintage
Shoes: Pierre Hardy for Gap
Bracelet: Stella & Dot
Earrings: Le Chateau

Lovely Thing: Getting a parcel in the mail! Especially when it's a gorgeous sketch, so exciting! Why do we not send more mail?? I think I'm going to add that to my new years resolutions... send. more. (real). mail. There's nothing quite as simple and exciting!

Welcome Home, Son

This is yesterday's outfit, perfect for the balmy weather we've been having! I wasn't supposed to wear this slip as a skirt, but seriously, who has time to throw on real clothes when it's gorgeous outside?! I can't seem to decide what season this hat is though... the style makes me think S/S but the felt material feels a bit too F/W?? It's not that I object to wearing things out of season, generally I just wear what I like and throw caution to the wind (haha melodramatic, non?) but it makes me wonder every time I bring this dude out of the closet.

Anyways, today I've been ever so stylish (sarcasm...) wearing my gorgeous painting clothes! BUT I finally covered the hole in my kitchen wall and have repainted some hideous green trim in my office. Yes, you read correctly... green trim. It was pure hideousness. Thankfully, it's now all covered. I swear, falling in love with the "feeling" of an old house will be the death of both me and my wallet!

Tank: Zara
Slip: Thrifted
Shoes: Pierre Hardy for Gap
Hat: American Apparel
Belt: just some old ribbon...
Leaf Necklace: Gift

Lovely Thing: Discovering that you can put together an outfit for a total of $10 (hat excluded... darn!) that is decent enough to wear in public, even if half of it is "undergarments"! :)

Islands

It's gorgeous outside! Sun shining, birds singing, making me not want to work at all gorgeous! I fully enjoyed it this past weekend too: relaxing on a deck with friends (and a chocolate fondue! Yum!), a picnic blanket siesta, bike rides and lazy strolls. Now it's Monday and back to reality, but it's still only the start of Summer, many more awesome weekends to come! I hope the weather has perked up for you guys too!

This is my outfit from Saturday, simple and easy. This skirt is so comfy but the lace on the shirt/dress perks it up a bit. I even hauled my handy flip-flops out of storage when we finally tipped the 20°C mark and this was their maiden trip this year.

Shirt (well, dress): Le Chateau
Skirt: Roxy
Belt: Thrifted
Gold Flip-Flops: Aldo
Turquoise Bracelet: Stella & Dot
Leaf Necklace: Gift
Bangle!

Lovely Thing: When someone recommends the perfect song and you become obsessed (in the best way!). Thanks Kate (from O My Heart...great blog and girl!) for Islands by The xx. Officially hooked!
