So I read an article in Harpers the other day about what women should wear, from a straight guy's point of view. It was...interesting. Apparently bows, polka dots and nail polish are out of bounds. This is why I feel quite defiant about this outfit! Haha it did make me think about who I actually dress for though (I guess it's not for men). I think ultimately it's for me, what makes me smile and feel great, but also for other women, especially other stylish women. It's that kind of street style mentality, I'm happy when I see other stylish women and I hope they enjoy seeing great (hopefully!) style too.
I really do enjoy the bow in my hair and the polka dot tights (you can't see the nail polish though) and I think that any guy who wants to be with me should be happy with whatever I wear. Although, I guess a second opinion would be helpful sometimes!
Coat: Le Chateau
Shirt: Forever 21

I've also decided to add a "thing I'm grateful for" at the end of each post. There are so many amazing things in my life and I don't think they should go unnoticed, some are silly and some are big. After reading the blog 1000 Awesome Things (which is SO good! Seriously, go read it right now!) I feel like I want to write them down too. So, great thing number one is, of course, My Family! They are endlessly loving and supportive and I couldn't be more blessed to have all of them in my life.
Have a lovely mid-week day!

Sounds like an interesting article...how I figure out if I'm wearing a good outfit is by my hubbys reaction..if he makes faces or straight up says he doesn't like it...it usually means whatever I'm wearing is quite cute and stylish...if he says he likes it..it usually means it's tight or showing some skin...haha
ReplyDeleteThat does sound like an interesting article. It makes you wonder what guys do want us wearing...
ReplyDeleteAs a girl, I love your outfit complete with polka dots and a bow :)
This outfit IS seriously defiant considering the article! LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteInteresting that bows, polka dots and nail polish are out (nail polish?! Really?!).
I'm checking out that 1000 awesome things blog now... thnx!

That's so funny because sometimes I'll come out in an outfit that I know my husband won't like and ask him what he thinks. He'll say something "diplomatic" like, "That's not my favorite dress..." and we'll laugh. Then I tell him I don't dress for him anyway, I dress for myself and for other girls. Haha. Guys don't always know what's cute. Love our trench coat and the polka dot tights!

Haha that article sounds good, i think its good that you dress for yourself, i dress for myself too. i dont think people should be told how to dress for an example its why i dont really like trends i like to have fun. And some of the things men wear they cant really talk! haha
ReplyDeleteAlso love this outfit completly! Dotted tights are so cool and this outfit just all goes to together wonderfully that top is beautiful too!
I dress for myself. The men I know like women undressed most of the time.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere along the line I stopped caring about what boys think of my outfit... I totally dress for girls now and it's much more fun!
ReplyDeleteWay to be a rebel! LOL! Great outfit...love it :D
ReplyDeleteHey, I left you an award on my blog!

ReplyDeleteHahaha, I love this post! I always find it interesting what guys like/don't like, but as much as I love clothes/fashion, my fella doesn't have much of an opinion, though he has great style himself. Everything always looks 'nice' or 'fine' to him! Ha! I'm pretty sure he hates bubble skirts, though! Regardless of what the guys might think, I think you look adorable!
ReplyDeleteit’s nice to hear another blogger that slightly rebels against what men think women should dress like… it’s so prevalent to see young girls dress scantily just for the attention of guys – the most attractive quality a person can have is self-confidence and girl you’ve got it! loving this post!
