Give a Little Bit

Hah! So after my burst of hatred towards technology yesterday I actually broke down and got a Twitter account. Someone recommended that I have one as it's now an essential for any business. I'm not disagreeing with this (I got the account after all) but I think that my technology skills are being seriously over-estimated. Seriously. It took me forever to set-up the account and now I have no clue what to do with it! I also don't know anyone else on it, geeze... I wish I was all cool with this tech stuff! I think it just comes naturally to some (lucky bums!). If you're interested my name on there is louise_turner (is an @ sign supposed to go ahead of that??)...

  

Anyways, that had nothing to do with the outfit today!
Isn't this dress gorgeous? I can already see so many ways and places to wear it and am even more excited for Summer to style it up sans sweater! It's funny though, I could've sworn the print was of impressionistic flowers, but in the photos it looks kinda tribal. It's weird how you see clothes different when they're in photos.

I styled a photo shoot on the weekend and just went through the photos (so quick!). I'm so happy with how they turned out! It was a great day and, thankfully, the weather cooperated and there was no torrential rain (not so lucky today!). I love, love, love working on photo shoots! All those creative minds teaming up together, maybe next time I can Tweet about it...? Maybe.

Blue Lips

So many technical difficulties with this post! Apparently, technology is NOT my friend. But I succeeded and here you have a long awaited post! And if everyone keeps their fingers crossed ( and my computer decides to like me again) there should be more regular posts as well!


There's been a slight chill in the air the past few days, more like what Spring usually is here and not the balmy +15 we were all enjoying; So I went for a bit of layering. It also meant that I could wear these boots that I found at my parent's house. They're my sister's old riding boots and they look amazing! Unfortunately I couldn't actually walk in them (2 sizes too big and they come so high up on my short legs that it's very difficult to bend my knees!) so they're solely for pictures. Boo.

So I just had to include some photos from the concert and sleep over I had last week! I arrived a bit late at Bronwyn's house and rushed to change for the concert... only to discover that great minds do think alike and we were wearing basically the same thing! Obviously we're just too cool! We had a blast though and it was so good to see her again! 

The next morning she was such a sweetheart and made me blueberry pancakes and bacon before my drive back home! Yum! This is why we're friends despite the distance... blueberry pancakes and awesome alike minds! :)

Gravity

These photos are actually from Wednesday morning (I know! I'm so far behind!) before I hopped in my car for a mini road trip to see one of my most favorite people, my lovely friend Bronwyn! We went to see John Mayer, with Michael Franti opening, and had a blast! Seriously, I love this girl! I think we could probably have fun anywhere, never mind at an awesome concert! Once I learn how to upload the photos I took from my phone I will show you a bit of the night... it was so fun and we matched (I swear... it was completely unintentional!)


I didn't wear this to the concert, a short, white dress and intoxicated, sweaty people didn't sound like a good mix. But I really did love this outfit! I've had this dress for years now and I still adore it, it's easy and so Summery. I picked up the shoes when I was last in England and I literally squealed when I saw them! They have actual wood platforms and the coolest heel. Love. I was also pretty pleased with how the milk-maid braids turned out. I am not a hairstylist. As you've seen I usually stick to my stand-by, but I was feeling daring (such a rebel!) and had seen these on so many adorable bloggers that I just had to try it. I think there were over a hundred bobby pins in there, BUT they stayed in and looked cool (well, I don't know about that, but it was different anyways!). It was a great day!

Also, sorry about the lack of posts! When I started this blog I had the very best intentions of posting everyday (or atleast 5 times/ week) but it seems that there are not enough hours in the day! I need to come up with a better routine, maybe early morning photos? What do you guys do that works, any tips?

Hey Soul Sister

I've had the above song (by Train) in my head all day. This has resulted in me skipping everywhere and randomly wiggling my hips. Slightly embarrassing, but also entertaining (to me.)! 

I wanted to wear something fun and Springish today and I really wanted to wear these tights again before they fell apart on me completely (...not the best of Joe's tights, but too cute to pass up). I put the outfit together and felt that it was too colour blocked so I tied the scarf around my waist (again! I swear, I get obsessive with accessories) to add some print. The ballet flats were a necessity for all the skipping and wiggling I did today too!

Hmm... there's nothing like some late night blogging! I really, really wanted to get this up today (or yesterday now I suppose) but things kept getting in the way. Do you ever have one of those days where time just FLIES by? That's what today was for me! I did get to make a pizza, supervise some concrete breaking and watch a good movie though... odd day!

I am truly a believer in improvisation. Case in point: In these photos, as you can see, my tights ripped and I lost my umbrella for the first rainy day of the season. I have a paper umbrella that my sister gave me from Thailand... paper stands up to rain, right? As for the rip... well see the leg crossing? Yeah, classy! 

I love the slightly vintage feel of this outfit, the hippie crochet dress and paisley scarf with the 1920's long pearls and T-straps. It felt like playing dress-up!

How We Operate

I am actually sitting outside writing this in just jeans and a tank... not exactly stylish but come on, it's March! In Manitoba! I also just ate a cupcake and got to play dress up all morning, needless to say it's been a pretty lovely day! 

To be fair the dress up technically counted as work... It's still in the works but I have a mini project that I'm doing on tomorrow. You'll definitely get to see the photos soon! 

I went over to my parent's house yesterday and decided to take my photos there, it seemed to go with the rugged look of the shorts and boots. It was tons of fun and so secluded out there that I actually didn't feel self-conscious... hence me reverting to a 10 year-old and climbing fences and trees! 

This outfit was perfect for yesterday, bare legs and all! I'm in love with shorts and knee highs, this scarf has such a lovely print and I managed to incorporate both rocker studs and lady-like pearls. Yes!
