The Dog Days of Summer

I often find it hard to live in the moment, my mind is constantly running ahead of me trying to imagine the future and planning things. Or stuck in the past, hashing it out and reliving old memories. I know this isn't healthy (and hey, realizing this is the first step...right??) but I guess I chose the right profession. The fashion world is always dissecting past trends/eras and then pushing the "new" season's must-haves waaay before they're actually wearable.

With summer coming to an end its so easy for me to get swept up in the excitement of fall (mmm... pumpkin-spice lattes, vibrant orange leaves...boots!!) and it really is my favorite season so I always look forward to its appearance. But it's also followed closely by winter. Boo. So I'm trying to live in the fashion moment of right now; The hot, balmy, lazy days of mid-august. To get myself excited about this present state I've rounded up a few gorgeous, languid photos filled with beautiful neutrals, interesting accessories, and that certain je ne sais quoi that happens when the temperature sky rockets.

  9. I totally know what you mean about living in the moment. It is so hard for me too! Perspective is such a wonderful thing, but unfortunately for me something bad has to happen for me to get in the right mindset.

    Happy Monday!

  11. i totally know what you mean about finding it hard to live in the moment.. i guess thats why i ended up in fashion, too! im trying to hold on to summer as long as i can because im also not a huge fan of winter. but when it was "cool" yesterday [like 79 degrees] i also thought of chilly days with warm chai from starbucks and that made me want fall so bad! can i ever be happy? haha.

  20. I agree, it's so hard to stay in the present season when all the stores are showing AMAZING items for the upcoming months. It doesn't help that this summer hasn't been warm here so I'm ready to throw in the towel and move on to Fall.

Did you make the brownies?? I finally finished the last of mine last night. I might have to make them again sometime soon.
