Five Things

IMG_9423 copy
Currently in a technological haze. Between switching to a new (and so awesome that I want to hug it forever) phone and spending 5 hrs at the Apple store on the holiday Monday, hoping and praying that my poor computer would wake up from it's coma, I just can't face wrestling with a tripod.

Hence the non-outfit photos.

Instead, these are 5 photos from the past week (except for one. Betcha can't guess which it is though!) summing up my week and mini adventures.

1. Sunny tulips at the Waterfront
2. Harbour people watching
3. SEE! Not enjoying having my photo taken, even at a young age... can't be said about my adorable friend W though- look at that model pose! And the killer '90's styles we're rocking here (yes, those are cats on my crop top)
4. Go-to books for when I'm feeling a teensy bit overwhelmed
5. Camping at Squamish last weekend, a little rainy but so gorgeous!

The High Road

The High Road- Broken Bells
Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows that I've been on a bit of a mad hunt for a felt panama hat (like this beauty, in brown naturally) this season... and I'm not really having much luck finding one in my price range. But, as a silver lining, the hunt led me to a very quirky little consignment shop in downtown Vancouver where I happened upon this very proper mid-length skirt. The olive colour is so demure but then it just has this fierce cobalt colour block at the bottom. Ah!
So, my hunt for the hat will continue, but at least I will have a pretty skirt to wear while doing it!
Olive and Cobalt Silk Skirt- Thrifted, Blue Blouse- Zara, Grey Tee- American Apparel, Brown Wedges- Franco Sarto, Leather Wrap Bracelet- H&M, Watch- Vintage, Charm Necklace- Gift, Cat Eye Sunglasses- Aldo
Photobucket
And now I'm off to enjoy this looong (!) weekend in my pretty city!
Maybe this will be the lucky hat weekend. Cross your fingers.

Rope and Summit

Rope and Summit- Junip
Are you guys sick of inside outfit shots? 'Cause I definitely am! But Vancouver has decided that it prefers rain to sunshine right about now, and I prefer a working camera to a broken one; so I hope we'll both stay put until the weekend when there will be both sun and time. Yay!
But I'm glad I finally get to post this outfit as it's what I have been truly living in for the past few days. Well, besides when I'm at work and have to look somewhat corporate. But we all know how much I love stripes, braids and wood platforms (see multiple previous posts)... so this is pretty much a no-brainer Louise look.
Stripe Shirt- H&M, White Shorts- American Eagle, Beige Circle Scarf- Gap (fram Paris though... does that make it classier??), Wood Platforms- Pierre Hardy for Gap, Heart Locket- Le Chateau, Wrap Bracelet- Club Monaco
I feel like I need to hop on a sail boat or something in this outfit, which quite frankly, I've been dying to do! It's rough being so close to the ocean without my dad to take me out sailing. And I know I should learn myself (it is on the hundred list!) but for some reason I always end up chilling out in the sun and not learning the port side from the starboard...
Maybe this will be the summer. Maybe. Are you planning on learning anything new this summer?

Sweet Disposition

Due to a Blogger glitch, this is my previously released post from Thursday.
The second times better anyway!
Sweet Disposition- The Temper Trap
Wow. Do you guys see how dark my hair actually is??
I was going to talk all about colour blocking, carrot pants, spring trends... you know, stuff that would make sense on a fashion blog. But as I'm looking at these photos, all I can think is Damn. My natural colour is daaaark!
I haven't dyed my hair in about 9 months (hence the lighter ends) as I'm really trying to embrace my God given colour. I'm also trying on a bunch of different hairstyles, so today I was bored and decided to try my part on the other side, you know, really mix things up and get crazy! Because I have some mad cow-licks it's a bit harder than it should be... and required many (many!) bobby pins! And looking at these dark brown roots I really don't think this hair has ever seen the sun. Darn cow-licks!
Coral Cardigan- J.Crew (sale!), Red Silk Tank- Urban Outfitters, Beige Carrot Pants- Wilfred via Aritzia, Loafer Heels- Mellow Yellow, Gold Bead Necklace- Target, Belt- Vintage
But I think that's probably enough talk about my hair!
Especially since I'm quite excited about all the new spring trends that I can finally wear and enjoy, including this one of colour blocking with bright analogous colours! Which, of course, is a favourite as I love saying analogous. :) (...it makes me sound smart)
There's no way a person can be unhappy while wearing such a bright mash-up... and after last week's less than stellar events I'm pretty determined to turn my luck around!

Pumped Up Kicks

Pumped Up Kicks- Foster the People
Oh, how much I love being able to go hose-less! As much as I love tights, and I really do, it's always so liberating to be able to slip into a skirt and hop out the door... without wrestling on the ground with a pair of tight tights!
Black Sweater- Le Chateau, Floral Peplum Skirt- Urban Outfitters, Chartreuse Scarf- Plum, Tan Shoes- Franco Sarto, Camel Blazer- Wilfred via Aritzia
And how much am I in love with this comfy, soft, neon scarf? The answer is: somewhere between Jaffa Cakes and my cat... so, a lot. It's the perfect thing to throw on when the temperature's don't cooperate with my wardrobe, and the brightness just makes me smile.

Windows Rolled Down

Windows Rolled Down- Amos Lee
Last weekend my awesome sister was in town, which meant that she cooked for me, bought me wine and patiently listened to my long-winded stories... yeah, she kinda rocks! (She's also just written the last exam of her life and will be a fully fledged and licensed Dr. Sister next month. Holla!)
Beige Cardigan- Zara, White Lace Vest- Tristan, White Cami and Sunglasses- Joe Fresh, Blue Skinny Jeans- Winners, Wood Platform Shoes- Pierre Hardy for Gap, Cross Body Bag- Value Village, Turquoise Ring- Aldo, Wrap Bracelet- Club Monaco, Wood Bangle- Le Chateau, Key Necklace- A. Co.
On Caroline: Stripe Shirt (wooo!!! Stripes!)- Jacob, Jeans- Guess, Belt- Stolen from me!, Shoes- Grey Toms

So I don't have her permission to post these (Hi Carrie!!) but she's the outgoing one in the family and she looks awesome in stripes, so I'm sure she won't mind. She also stole my belt... so this is a form of blackmail. :)
A visit from her was exactly what this (slightly) home-sick girl needed and I can't wait to go out and visit her next month. Now I just need to get the youngest sister out here for a visit too!
I hope you guys got to have just as much fun on your weekend as well!

Rumor Has It

Rumor Has It- Adele
Does anyone else feel that this week has been kinda crazy historical?? Elections, a  fairy tale wedding, Osama Bin Laden and a (very important!) letter of decision that I've been waiting on. Crazy stuff for one 4 day stretch!
And I really wanted to write a post for the Royal Wedding; after avoiding the hype for so long, my mum and some friends finally cracked me and I became quite obsessed. Quickly. We're talking a 2:50am wake up call to watch it. Shhh! But instead I had a really relaxing weekend with my lovely sister and now it's kinda late (and very redundant!) to recap all the details. Just know that the little Brit in me LOVED it and had big warm fuzzy feelings all Friday, especially when thinking of the Grace Kelly-esque dress. Le sigh!

Black Dress- Le Chateau, White Silk Blouse- Thrifted, Paisley Scarf- Vintage, Wood Platform Heels- Pierre Hardy for Gap, Bauble Necklace- Loft (won!! At Miss Influenced
So this is my version of the Audrey Hepburn bun that I've been dying to try; it was surprisingly easy and made everything look so posh (even my housecoat. Bam!). And it makes me feel that I at least look like a lady, just don't focus on those darn fly-aways...
I'm also unveiling the pretty pretty necklace I won from Molly at Miss Influenced, did I mention that it's pretty? Because it is. And it also makes simple outfits look like I actually tried- and I LOVE that.
See people, historical events. :)
